3 year old Class

In our three year old class they focus on learning how to say their first and last names, and how to recognize their first name written out. They will learn to recognize basic 2D shapes, how to sort by size and color, root count 1-10, the colors of the rainbow,  opposites,  and the names of familiar adults. They will learn to grasp a pencil correctly, use scissors correctly, count to 10, follow 2 step directions, listen to a story and retell the parts, trace along a straight and curved line, and tell a story. They will begin to draw a person with all body parts, participate in dramatic play, color a picture neatly, recognize uppercase letters, identify an AB pattern, and recognize positional words. We also teach them to interact with peers and adults, share, sing and dance, and to use feeling words to describe their feelings. 

Typical Days Schedule

8:45 Drop off and Morning Routine

Students perform the morning routine as they arrive.

9:00-Circle Time/ Calendar, Pledge and Weather

Students will sing the Morning song, update the calendar, say the pledge, and update the weather. The students are learning math concepts, speaking, listening, music, and social skills. 

9:20- Centers/Small Groups

Students will go to the centers selected by the teacher in the morning. The students switch centers rotating to the next clockwise. Our centers are sensory table, dramatic play, stem/art, building & blocks, books & puzzles and small groups 

Students will work with the teacher in a smaller group. During this time student will learn various literacy, math and concept skills. New games and activities are introduced at this time and are adjusted to the students ability to ensure student success.

Science

Library- Student will have time in the library to  hear a book read to them or do a group activity. They will then check out and take home a book for the week. 

Art- Students will learn emotional expression, art techniques, creativity, different mediums, art history and color concepts. 

Music- Students will be learning gross motor skills, social skills, language skills, Rythum, instrument,   Low and High tones, beat, 

Science-Students will learn cause and effect, discover new possibilities, speaking and listening, measuring, number concepts, ordering and patterning. 

10:50- Story Time/Snack

10:35- Chapel

11:10- Large Group

During this time the students will have a bible story discussion and project. On Tuesdays students will spend this discussion time with Pastor John (PJ)

During story time teachers will read a story that is connected to our theme of the week. Students answer questions, make meaning, and make connections to build reading comprehension, and book knowledge.

 

Student will have snacks at their table. This is a time for students to have a brain break and enjoy a social moment with friends. 

During Large Group students will participate in songs, games, and activities as a class with the teacher. These activities can include things such as memory games, nursery rhymes, and puppets. Students will follow literacy and mathematical instructions for table work and games.

12:30-1:00- Lunch/Pick-up

Various gross motor activities are set up around the playground to develop gross motor skills. Students will also play on the equipment daily or inside in our social hall incase of bad weather. 

Students will sing our goodbye song, recap our day, and review tomorrow. At this time students will be doing any presentations with the class. During this presentation time students will be learning great social skills, self awareness, emotional expression, speaking and listening skills. 

Students will go to the Social Hall for lunch. When a student's family arrives parents will collect their child's belongings from upstairs and talk with the teacher. Then head down to the Social Hall to get their child from lunch.
